Read moreThe Dayton Lady Broncos went ice cold in the second half and it proved to be costly as the Montgomery Lady Bears went on to a 43-28 win at the Lady Broncos Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon in district play. Dayton got off to a quick start early on and things were looking good. A steal and bucket by Kyra Keener were the first points of the game and then a drive and score by Jerrica Keener made it 6-2 Lady Broncos. Early in the second period it was Kyra Keener putting two more points in with a leaner to run the lead to 13-5. Montgomery then went on an 8-0 run to tie the score at 13-apiece with 3:05 left in the half. Allie Davis then put an end to the run by connecting from downtown and Dayton was back in front at 16-13. The Lady Bears scored the final three points of the half to tie the score at 16-apiece. Down 19-16, Amber Kelly grabbed an offensive rebound an score to make it 19-18 early in the third period. Late in the third quarter, the Lady Broncos tied the score at 22 with Jerrica Keener scoring on a assist from Davis. Montgomery ended the period on a 6-2 run to lead 28-24 after three quarters. The Lady Bears then dominated the final eight minutes of play as they scored the first 12-points of the quarter to lead 40- 24 with 2:44 left. Dayton would end the run and get a basket by Jerrica Keener to make it 41-26 with 1:05 left. But the damage had already been done and the Lady Bears were leaving town with the victory. Jerrica Keener led the Lady Broncos in scoring with 8 points while Kyra Keener and Amber Kelly each added six-points each. Dayton will host Kingwood Park on Friday night.
