Read moreThe Crosby Cougars ran into a tough Aledo Bearcat team on Friday afternoon in the Class 5-A Division II state onship game at AT&T Stadium, and it was Aledo running back DeMarco Roberts rushing for 255 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to a record loth state championship in a 56-21 win over Crosby. The Cougars jumped out first, with Deniquez Dunn connecting with Jalen Herman on a 9-yard score to give Crosby a 7-o lead with 9:00 minutes left in the first quarter. Aledo then responded with Brayden Nicolosi hooking up with JoJo Earle on a 74-yard score to tie things up at 7-apiece. Reggie Branch then gave the Cougars the lead again by scoring on a 2-yard run to make it 14-7. Roberts then had five straight rushing touchdowns, and the Bearcats were on their way and led 42-14 with 7:08 left in the third quarter. Dunn did add a 7-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter for Crosby.

Hardin-Jefferson jumped out to a 35-8 lead after the first period and then increased their advantage to 68-18 at the break. The Lady Hawks are now 18-0 on the season, and Liberty still sits in a great position for a playoff spot. The Lady Panthers were led in scoring, with Olivia Moore pouring in 15 points and Madyson Goudeau adding 12. Liberty will travel to Hamshire-Fannett on Friday night.

Dayton had a strong first half and led11-7 after the first quarter and then held Porter to just three points in the second quarter as they pushed their lead to 22-10 at the break. The Spartans had a big third quarter and out up 21 points to get within 36-31 after three quarters. Porter then outscored the Broncos 7-o in the fourth period in taking the win. Brice Payton led Dayton in scoring with 12. On Tuesday night, it was New Caney knocking off the Broncos 69-38. Jayden Jiminez finished with n points to lead the way in scoring for Dayton. The Broncos will travel to Cleveland on Friday night.
