Smith signs with North Lake College in Dallas

TARKINGTON — In front of family and friends, Gabi Smith came one step closer to capping off her high school volleyball career at Tarkington High School by signing at the collegiate level on Monday.
Smith will take her volleyball talents to North Lake College in Dallas next season.
'I started playing volleyball a little late, but since I have, it has been fun for me,' said Smith. 'The last few years I have really worked hard on getting better and having a chance to play at the next level. This is a big day for me.'
Smith was named Offensive MVP of 23-3A when she was a junior and capped this year off by being named the district's MVP.
'I really like the way the coach from North Lake talks you through things as they happen. She teaches on the go instead of waiting until later to tell you what you're doing wrong,' added Smith.
Also, a plus for Smith is that she has a summer teammate she played club ball with who is going to North Lake.
'That made me feel comfortable knowing I have a friend going there,' Smith said.
Smith will wear the Lady Horns uniform one last time as she was chosen to play in the SETCA All-Star Game on June 13 at East Chambers High School.
