Orangefield ends Longhorn's season in area round

BEAUMONT — The Tarkington Longhorns put together a nice 14game winning streak and finished as the Co-District Champion in 23-3A this past season.

On Friday night at Vincent- Beck Stadium, the Longhorns saw their season end at the hands of the Orangefield Bobcats 7-1 in game two of a Region III Area Championship.

On Thursday night, in game one, Orangefield shut out Tarkington 5-0 to move in front 1-0 in the series.

Lance Hawthorne and Keaton Lamberth each had two hits apiece. Hawthorne pitched into the sixth inning and finished with two strikeouts.

Friday night's contest saw the Longhorns' Kamden Roberts hold the Bobcats to just a run through the first four innings before a two-run triple by Cameron Dearing gave Orangefield a 4-0 advantage in the top of the fifth inning.

Tarkington cut the deficit to 4-1 with a run in the bottom half of the frame. Ethan Allen walked, and then Hawthorne singled. Bryan Mills then doubled to score Allen.

The Bobcats put the game away with three runs in the sixth inning. Dearing once again came up big with a two-run double and the lead was 7-1.

Roberts pitched into the fifth inning and finished with three strikeouts. Cooper LaBuff and Mills also pitched for the Longhorns.

Hawthorne led the hitting attack with two hits. Tarkington finishes their season at 20-10
