The Dayton Bronco Cross Country teams traveled to Claiborne West Park in Vidor, TX, for the Cardinal Classic on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Read moreThe Liberty Panthers traveled to Madisonville last Friday night to take on the Mustangs and improved their record to 1-1 by defeating the Mustangs by a score of 42-14. The Panthers found themselves short on key personnel due to health and injury issues but still managed to come home with the win. They were missing their kicker/punter and their key running back from last week’s contest. Once again, however, Liberty’s defensive squad did an excellent job by containing Madisonville’s elusive quarterback and only allowing one offensive score. Madisonville’s other score came on a returned fumble. Liberty’s offense took charge, especially in the 2nd half, by putting together two long offensive drives that used the clock and yielded points.

Unfortunately, the season’s first game didn’t turn out the way the Broncos hoped that it would have gone. The Dayton Broncos on Friday night fell to a pretty wellcoached Lake Creek Lions team. But despite coming up short and out the losing end, thanks to second-year head coach Blake Ware and his staff, Broncos fans left Methodist Stadium feeling somewhat positive about this upcoming football season. “There Is Brightness Out the Horizon.”
