The Cleveland Lady Indians landed five players on the 20-5A All-District Team. The Lady Indians had three players making the second team. They are Ariana Rivera, Caitlyn Meshell, and Smiya Mayfield. Honorable Mentions picks for Cleveland are Katherine Paz and Kristin Driver. Six Lady Indians made the All-Academic List. Read moreThe close of the 2021 school year means graduating senior students for the last time leaving high school. The Liberty Panthers are losing a good one in Devin Fregia. As I talked to Devin via a phone interview on Saturday night, I realized just how special this kid is and will be. Fregia is headed to Beaumont to play football for Lamar University, and the Cardinals are getting a good one.

Read moreLiberty pitcher Kaci West was named the Conference 4A MVP after the Lady Panthers put away Calallen 10-3 to claim the 4A State Championship. Joining West on the team was senior third baseman Jaylen Prichard and three freshman. Catcher Hollie Thomas finished the title game with two hits and three RBI’s while designated hitter Kamdyn Chandler had two hits and an RBI against the Lady Cats. Outfielder Bailee Slack was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Slack reached base three times in the championship game with two walks and a single. Sophomore Reese Evans also made the list from her shortstop position. Evans had a hit in the State Title game and played a perfect short stop.

With the heavy rain pounding Austin on Thursday, the game was moved to Georgetown in the afternoon, with a packed stadium taking in the intense action.
