Domestic altercation ends in shooting death
A 911 call was received by the Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher at approximately 12:58 p.m. Monday night from Clarissa Moncivais who said that her son had just shot and killed her husband.
Deputies responded to the residence on CR 685 in south Liberty County where they found 42-year-old Jose Jesus Moncivais deceased at the scene from a gunshot to his head.
According to Sheriff’s Lead Investigator Travis Pierce, the step-son of Moncivais, 22-year-old Fabian Makell Miranda, who also lives at that address, alleged that Moncivais was beating his mother and he attempted to stop the assault with his 380 automatic and during the attempt, Miranda alleges that he had to shoot Moncivais in self-defense. During the course of the follow-up investigation, however, Investigator Pierce says the evidence found did not support the allegation of self-defense.
Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Larry Wilburn conducted an inquest at the scene and ordered an autopsy. Investigator Pierce filed a murder charge against Fabian Miranda, and he was placed in the Liberty County Jail.
