Oilers bounce Bulldogs
The West Hardin Lady Oilers Volleyball Team traveled to Warren to battle the Colmesneil Lady Bulldogs in a bi-district playoff battle. The Lady Bulldogs, winners of District 23-2A came in as the clear favorites. From pre-game to the first serve the intensity in the gym could be felt. Electricity pulsated through as the Lady Oilers and their fans cheered. For seniors Payton Hughes, Kayla Wortham, Terra Tanton, Baelynn Fenton and Malorie Brown the time was now.
The first set was full of explosive plays. Every point in these sets mattered. Errors plagued the Bulldogs, and the Lady Oilers took clear advantage of it. The Lady Oilers attack game led by Terra Tanton gave the Oilers a 25 to 18 first set victory.
The Lady Bulldogs seemed to be stunned as they went into set two. That set was all in favor of the Lady Oilers. They won 25 to 10.
In set three the Lady Bulldogs responded. Up 12 to 8, Lady Oilers senior Malorie Brown came up big with the phenomenal block. The two teams then exchanged leads back and forth. Tied at 24 a piece, the Lady Bulldogs took the lead by one. It looked like the Lady Bulldogs were going to win the set, but West Hardin would not allow it. Digging deep the Lady Oilers responded and won the third and final set, 30 to 28.
