Orangefield takes a pair from Anahuac
ANAHUAC— The Anahuac Panthers faced the top team in district last week and the Orangefield Bobcats showed why they are atop the standings in a pair of contests.
On Tuesday, the Bobcats traveled to Anahuac and beat the Panthers 7-3.
Orangefield led 4-0 after three innings of play before Anahuac scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the deficit in half at 4-2.
Braedon Edmonds scored the Panthers first run of the game on a caught stealing at second base, and then Oscar Garza doubled home Jaxon Leath and the score was 4-2.
The Bobcats made it 5-2 with a run in the fifth, but Anahuac countered with a run of their own in the sixth to make it 5-3.
Orangefield then put the game away with two runs in the seventh inning.
Blaedin Josephson pitched into the seventh inning and finished with seven strikeouts. Edmonds finished with two hits and also scored a pair of runs.
On Friday, the Panthers visited Orangefield and dropped a 6-2 decision to the Bobcats.
It was a pitcher's duel early on as Orangefield scored a run in the third inning to move in front 1-0.
The score stayed the same until the fifth inning when the Bobcats put up four runs to move their lead to 5-0.
Trailing 6-0 heading into the seventh inning of play, Anahuac got an Edmonds home run to get on the scoreboard. Garza added an RBI single to plate Josephson for the 6-2 final.
Logan Trotter pitched five innings and struck out eight. Garrett Cornelius pitched the sixth inning in relief.
