BH clinches playoff spot with victory over Bruins
MONT BELVIEU – Needing a win over Beaumont West Brook to clinch a playoff spot, the Barbers Hill Eagles jumped out to a big halftime lead and then used their defense in the second half to take down the Bruins 31-17 on Friday night at Eagle Stadium.
Trailing 10-7 late in the first quarter, Barbers Hill would take the lead for good with Brycen Wells connecting with Keagan Morton on a 46-yard score to make it 14-10.
In the second quarter, the Eagles would get a Morton 11-yard score to make it 21-10 and then Darren Jordan would score from 7 yards out late in the first half to give Barbers Hill a 28-10 lead at the break.
Kicker Anthony Castillo booted a 30-yard field goal with 11 minutes left in the game and the Eagles led 31-10.
Barbers Hill will face Houston Sterling on Friday night in the first round of the playoffs at Barnett Stadium in Houston.
