Pack too much for Barber Hill
LUFKIN – The Barbers Hill Eagles have had very few hiccups this season; other than a horse race against Class 6A Deer Park, the Eagles have been in control until this week.
Barbers Hill traveled to always-tough Lufkin on Friday night and fell to the Panthers at Abe Martin Stadium 32-14.
Barbers Hill scored first and led 7-0 before Lufkin's Titan Williams scored from two yards out and after a successful two-point run it was the Panthers in front 8-7.
Early in the second quarter, the Eagles Zeke Cantu scored from the 1-yard line and Barbers Hill was back in front 14-8.
Ja'Lynn Polk then connected with Nico Randle on a 65-yard score and Lufkin led 15-14. Just before the half ended, the Panthers scored again with Ledavion Henry from seven yards out and the lead was 22-14 at the half.
Williams scored on a 38-yard run early in the third quarter to increase the advantage to 29-14.
The Eagles (3-2, 0-1) will return home on Friday night to face the Sterling Rangers.
