Lady Hornets split district games on the hardwood
HARDIN — The Lady Hornets continued to stay right in the middle of the playoff race in district after splitting a pair of games last week.
In a game rescheduled from Tuesday to Wednesday due to the freeze, the Lady Hornets fell at East Chambers 48-38.
Despite struggling in the first half, Hardin trailed by just five points at the half.
The second half was close, with the Lady Hornets trailing closely before a couple of costly mistakes happened in the fourth quarter, which allowed the Lady Buccaneers to pull away and win by ten.
On Friday night at home, Hardin responded in a big way by knocking off Anahuac 53-33.
Hardin scored 15 points in the first and second quarters to take a 30-17 lead into the locker room.
The Lady Hornets then put the game away by outscoring the Lady Panthers 13-5 in the third quarter to take a commanding 43-22 lead going into the fourth quarter.
“We had an absolute team game with everyone putting points on the board, along with key rebounding and tough defensive play as we played an awesome game,” said Head Coach Zachary Arthur.
Hardin will host Orangefield on Friday night.
