Thoughtful Things
“Building Better”
How many of you have put something together and had pieces or parts left over, but the project was still in working order, or it looked the way it was supposed to? We begin to say things like we are smarter than the engineers, we are more efficient, in short thinking, we can build better.
Generally speaking, we say this out of failure to either follow the instructions or even acknowledge the necessity of the instructions with an “I got this” attitude.
I see this in so many avenues of life; when it comes to failure, we will say something like “I thought that it was right, or it looked/seemed right,” but in almost every instance, hindsight shows to prove that we should have done things differently by following the instructions.
I believe that it is the direct will of God to live a life that is victorious and joyful, but there are many that will never experience this more than on an occasional time. The question is how or why can that be if it is Gods will for one of His people?
The psalmist answered this question very precisely in Psalms 37
1 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
Do you notice that each verse of the 37 psalms spoke of self and not worrying about others?
You have got to live for God for you! Not for anyone else! It is up to you to make it to heaven!
Keep In mind there are effects from other people and to other people, and rightly so.
Spouse to spouse, parent to child, pastor to saint, elders to the church, etc., this is Proverbs 27:17 in effect. Iron sharpening iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. BUT this is only useful when done by following the instruction manual, which is the Bible.
