GAME WON, VICTORY LOST
In the eighth grade, I was the starting center on our basketball team. The week we were to play our biggest rival on our home court, I came down with the flu. I thought I was well enough to play, but my mother thought otherwise. We lived within walking distance from the school, so while mother thought I went to bed early, I slipped out the window. As much as my team and coach were glad to see me, I will never forget the disappointing look on Mother’s face when I walked in the house late that evening.
“A foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.” (Proverbs 10:1)
