LHS Jazz Band has great showing
LIBERTY - The Liberty High School Jazz Band traveled to Hardin-Jefferson HS over the weekend to compete in the ATSSB Region Jazz auditions for the first time since 2016. 12 students competed for spots in the ensemble, Area qualification, and the chance to record an audition at the state level competition in November.
The students performed brilliantly! Several students placed in the top of their room, including 4th chairs Astrid Sifuentes (alto saxophone) and William Gilley (tenor trombone), 3rd chair Joseph Girard (tenor saxophone), and 2nd chairs John Simon (baritone saxophone) an Eleanor Hale (piano).
Two members earned spots in the Region Jazz Band - 3rd chair trumpet Juan Sanchez and 1st chair bass guitar Jordan Brown. Both of these gentlemen not only earned a place in the Region ensemble, but they also qualified for Area and recorded an audition for the State Jazz adjudication to be held on Nov. 12. Juan and Jordan will be participating in the Region Clinic and Concert on Nov. 16th and 17th in Vidor, TX.
We’re so very proud of these students’ accomplishments, especially as it was their first time to ever compete in the ATSSB Jazz auditions!! Go Panthers!
