Kenefick Activity Club Happenings
KENEFICK - The Kenefick Activity Club met for their scheduled meeting on Sept. 20 at the Kenefick Community Building. There were 13 members present and four visitors. Our members were Jessica Fingleman and her daughters, Abbie and Gabby Fingleman. Also, Nelda Lawson brought her neighbor, Ms. Lee Gullickson. Lee stated that she wanted to join our Activity Club. So happy that Lee wants to join our group.
Our President, Eileen, called the meeting to order, asking our members if there were any prayer requests. Several names were mentioned, and Pauline Bond was asked to lead us in prayer on behalf of those mentioned.
Our Secretary, Betty Kersh, asked members to answer roll call with where we were born and where we grew up. There were only 2 or 3 members who were born in Liberty County and had lived here all of their life. After roll call, Betty read minutes from our previous meeting and the minutes were approved as read. The Treasurer, Elaine Trimmers, was asked to read the Treasurer’s report and it was approved as read.
Our annual ticket sales for a quilt to be given away at our Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon were then discussed. President Eileen had gotten permission for us to sell tickets on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22 at the Thriftee Food Store in Dayton, Simmons Grocery in Kenefick and Kenefick General Store, also in Kenefick. We sincerely thank these folks for letting us set up at their stores.
The sales for these tickets are the only fundraiser we do each year, and we use the proceeds to have our Thanksgiving Luncheon and help a family or two have a Merry Christmas. We appreciate all of the nice folks to help us do this each year. Members will also be selling tickets before Oct. 21. If you are interested in getting tickets, please let one of our members know.
The meeting was then turned over to Jessica Fingleman, a Board Member for “I Stand For a Cure,” who explained that they were having an event on Sept. 24 to raise funds for a cure for cancer. The proceeds from this event will go to cancer research.
Jessica asked our ladies if they would provide some baked goods for their silent auction. Our ladies are glad to help with this effort. Thank you, Jessica, for coming and speaking to our group.
We are planning on having our Thanksgiving Luncheon for our Senior Citizens on Nov. 17 at the Kenefick Community Building.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 10 am at the Kenefick Community Building.
