Bronco Tennis off to Quick Start
On Thursday of last week, the Bronco Tennis team traveled to Pasadena High and had a tough six-hour match. The Broncos had quite a few kids who gained their first experience, and some stepped up in a big way but ended up dropping a close 10-8 match.
On Friday, after a lengthy rain delay, the team hosted Pasadena High, and avenged the loss from earlier this week with a 12-7 win. After a short break, the team returned to the courts to host Vidor. The young team showed a lot of improvement and took down Vidor 13-6.
This week the team has a packed schedule as they will host Nederland on Monday morning, followed by Baytown Lee on Tuesday afternoon, and then travel to Davis on Thursday.
The tennis team started back on July 25th with their in-season practice and have had good attendance even with the 100-plus degree days. This year’s team has been placed in a new UIL district and will compete with Huntsville, Nacogdoches, Lufkin, Kingwood Park, and New Caney Porter for potential playoff spots. While there will be lots of travel the young Broncos are excited to see how they can compete and excited about a chance to make the playoffs.
