    Runnie “Mae” Dockery, 1926-2019

Runnie “Mae” Dockery, 93, of Dayton passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, in Dayton. She was born on Jan. 14, 1926 in North Zulch, Texas, to the late John B. and Emma Ayers Windham.

Mae and her family moved to the Dayton area in 1976 after residing in Highlands since 1961. She and her husband, J.W., were members of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cleveland for many years. Mae was dedicated to her faith in the Lord. She always looked forward to attending church, where she was also a Sunday school teacher for many years. Mae pursued many interests, some of which included a passion of gardening and fishing.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, J.W. Dockery of Dayton; her sons, Rodney Dockery and wife Helen of Dayton, and Joe Williams and wife Johnnie Mae of Highlands; her grandchildren, Carolyn Mae Dockery, Brendy Williams and Brian Williams; her great-grandchildren, Madisen, Blayne, Easton, Brylan, Cross and Lucyana; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Bro. David Moore officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park on SH 146 in Dayton.
