Odell “Skipper” Wells Jr., 1976-2019, and Christopher Allen Wells, 1999-2019
Taken from this earth way too soon, the inseparable father and son, Skipper and Chris Wells, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 13, in Dayton. Odell “Skipper” Wells Jr. was born on July 23, 1976 in Galveston, Texas, to Scharla Jones and Odell Wells Sr. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. Skipper and his wife Shawnda Bell had a son, Christopher Allen Wells, who was born on July 24, 1999 in Baytown.
The father and son were the best of friends and were always enjoying life together; whether they were working on jobs or just enjoying each other’s company. Skipper and Chris were avid outdoorsmen and both loved fishing, hunting and camping. The two enjoyed sitting around campfires and fishing along the Trinity River while running trotlines. They also loved nothing more than spending quality time with the family.
Skipper taught Chris the importance of being a hard worker. He would always help his dad at LT’s Garbage Service with the maintenance and cleaning of the vehicles. Skipper and Chris took pride in working and providing support to their families.
Both men had a big heart, were very caring and giving. Chris was funny and had a smile that could light up a room. Skipper was the perfect role model that molded Chris into the man had become. They were genuine and kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved them.
Skipper was preceded in death by his mother; his grandparents, Joann Bailey and Bill Jones; his cousin, Quentin Jones; his aunt, Becky Thibadoux; and his uncle, Robert Seimen. Chris was preceded in death by his father; his grandmother, Scharla Wells; his great-grandparents, Billy and Glenn Kimbrell; and his uncle, Quentin Jones. Skipper and Chris leave behind to cherish their memory wife and mother, Shawnda Bell; daughter and sister, Cassandra Wells; sons and brothers, Travis Wells and Tyler Holloway; grandson and nephew, Tristin Cook; and granddaughter and niece Kylee Cook. Chris is also survived by his fiancé, Elizabeth Bentley; his grandparents, Odell Wells Sr., Ginger Bell and James Thomas.
