Fred Lee Marberry, 1942-2019
Fred Lee Marberry, age 76, of Liberty passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake in Webster, Texas. He was born on Nov. 15, 1942 in Ewing, Texas, to parents Fred Daniel Marberry and Gertrude Frances Shoebrook Marberry.
Fred married the love of his life, Amelia Abegzel Marberry, on Jan. 17, 1964 in Gibraltar, Spain. Together with their families, they lived in Liberty for 40 years. Three years ago, Fred and Amelia lost their beloved daughter, Betty Ducote. A year ago, Fred lost his dear wife Amelia and in May of this year he lost his son, Robert Marberry. We are comforted by thoughts of their reunion in Heaven.
Fred was a hard-working man. He served his country faithfully for many years while in the United States Air Force. After he retired from the military, he became a truck driver for over 20 years. Fred enjoyed fishing. He had a deep knowledge of guns and weaponry. He loved spending time with his family. In their younger years, he and Amelia were playful, danced and quilted together. Fred lived life on his own terms. He had a huge heart and an even bigger smile. Fred will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 54 years, Amelia Abegzel Marberry; daughter, Betty Ann Ducote; and son, Robert Marberry. He leaves behind to cherish his memory sons, Fred Marberry II and wife Elicia, Daniel Marberry and wife Carol; grandchildren, Shelby Fountain and husband Andre, Crystalin Birdwell, Chad Marberry, Ryan Birdwell, Kaitlyn Morrow and husband Dustin, Heather Roberts and husband Cody, Laura Birdwell, Chisholm Marberry, William Marberry; great-grandchildren, Asjia, Jesse, Thomas, Railee, Braleigh, Lydia, Eme, Brayden, Brenton, Steely, Garrison, Hunter, Cullen, Maverick and Oliver. In addition he leaves behind many other loving relatives and friends.
Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Chad Marberry, Lane Chisholm Marberry, Cody Roberts, Andre Fountain, Tom Birdwell, Buddy Birdwell and Jesse Cole.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, Oct. 4, from 12 to 2 p.m. in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral services will begin in the chapel at 2 p.m. with burial and committal immediately following at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
