Carroll Clinton Harris, 1938-2019

Carroll Clinton Harris of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on Sept. 28. Carroll was born in New Edinburg, Arkansas, Dec.1, 1938. He grew up in the farming community with six siblings, learning from an early age the value of a hard day’s work.

Strong willed and determined, he left home at sixteen with only ten dollars to his name. Luckily, he found his way and the love of his life in Texas. Carroll married Kathleen Cain in 1960. They had three daughters: Kalita, Sandi and Kris. He loved to tell people that he wanted a football team but instead he got a drill team. He taught his girls to love profoundly, the value of inner strength and to always remember their roots.

Carroll worked in the oil fields and in machinery to earn a living but was a true renaissance man.   He always found time to nurture his hobbies of guitar picking and writing — his writings were twice published in Reminisce magazine. Blessed with a truly amazing memory and a knack for storytelling, his family loved to hear the tales of his upbringing, courting Kathleen, and the adventures with all of his grandkids. Although he left Arkansas in his teens, he always loved watching his Razorbacks.

There are no true words to capture a life so well lived. He was loved by all who knew him and his memory will be cherished always.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Nellie Marie Underwood and Floyd McKinley Harris; his siblings, Floyd Woodie, Juanita Faye, Shirley Augustine, Larry Wayne and Marvin Marcel.

Survived by wife Kathleen; his sister, Iva Nell Adams; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kalita and Dan Bodnar, Sandi and Kevin Daniel, Kris and Steven Orr; eight grandchildren, Andrea, Alex, Kayse, Adam, Austin, Aaron, Riley and Ryan; and one great-grandchild, Leith.

Friends are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. at Allison Funeral Service. A graveside service will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery.
