LISD officially names McGee superintendent
LIBERTY – School t r u s t ees voted u n a n i mously to hire Dusty McGee as the new LISD Superintendent at Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
The vote was unanimous, and McGee was expected to begin on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
McGee has been in education for the last 24 years, spending the past 10 with LISD, most recently as Deputy Superintendent. He previously worked in the district as a coach, principal, and Director of Student Sup- port and School Administration.
Mr. McGee has been married to his wife, 1990 Liberty High School graduate, Wendy Brewer Mc-Gee, for 21 years. Their daughter Bailey attends Galena Park Early College High Schoo, l and their daughter Kinley is a sixth grader at Liberty Middle School.
McGee replaces the recently retired Dr. Cody Abshier.

It has been my greatest honor to serve this district over the last ten years, and I appreciate the opportunity to continue to lead and work with our outstanding Board, students, staff, and community. Liberty ISD is not the magic of one individual; The magic of Liberty ISD is that we have a shared belief that the primary responsibility of each member of our school district is to ensure that every student achieves at their academic and creative potential,” said McGee in a previous statement.
