Old School Museum featuring new exhibit
The Old School Museum in Dayton has a new exhibit featuring Dayton Independent School District’s first yearbook which was for the year 1920. It was called The Sheaf and was dedicated to School Superintendent E. K. Barden.
The exhibit is a stroll down memory lane for longtime Daytonites as they will recognize many familiar names of faculty members and students who were life-long residents and contributed to the community over the years in various ways. It will bring a smile to the face of everyone as it is an enjoyable look at a bygone time.
Each class, from the seniors 11th graders to the first graders are pictured. Included are photos of the Board of Trustees, faculty of each grade, high school club members, basketball, football and baseball teams, and a lot of information about the ten senior class members. Original cartoons, drawn by a talented senior on the yearbook staff are featured along with several original poems.
You are cordially invited to view this and many other exhibits at the museum, located at 111 W. Houston St. behind Walgreens. Hours are each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and admission is free.
