Creighton takes pivotal leadership role
AUSTIN -- Residents in Chambers County should take notice as their state Senator has taken on an important role during the 89th Texas Legislature and could lead to big things.
District 4 State Sen. Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe, has taken on a top leadership role as the number two behind Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, serving as President Pro-Tempore this session.
All of Chambers County, along with portions of Harris, Montgomery and Jefferson counties, comprise Senate District 4.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected by my fellow Senators as the President Pro-Tem for the 89th legislative session. It’s a privilege to serve alongside my colleagues who I consider true friends, and I am committed to upholding the high standards that Texans rightfully expect from their elected officials,” Creighton said.
Creighton believes a clear mandate exists to preserve the “Texas dream” while positioning the state as a leader in what he calls “hope, opportunity and prosperity.”
“This session is about securing Texas’ future—protecting our border, empowering parents, supporting teachers and driving economic growth,” he said.
Since taking on the role, Creighton has already been busy taking on the role of acting governor with Gov. Greg Abbott and Patrick out of state for the Trump Inauguration. At the same time, the winter storm made its way across the area, bringing a rare heavy snowfall to Southeast Texas, giving the Republican a front seat for the state’s response.
“It’s been an incredible honor to stand in as Governor,” he said.
Creighton says the session will also be heavily focused on property tax relief, delivering school choice, and raising teacher pay while strengthening the power grid.
“To the voters of Senate District 4, thank you for trusting me to represent you in the Texas
Senate. It is a responsibility I take seriously every single day. I also look forward to working closely with Lt. Gov. Patrick and Gov. Abbott as we serve the more than 30 million Texans who rely on us to deliver results,” said Creighton.
