Anahuac picks up pair of wins over EC

    Anahuac’s Blaedin Josephson takes a big swing against the East Chamber Buccaneers in district play.

ANAHUAC – The Anahuac Panthers opened up district play with East Chambers last week on Tuesday and Friday and picked up a pair of wins over the Buccaneers.

On Tuesday night at home, Blaedin Josephson allowed only two hits while striking out nine as Anahuac blitzed East Chambers in five innings 10-0.

The Panthers scored six runs in the second inning and four more in the third.

A bases-loaded walk by Braedon Edmonds scored Jaxon Leath and Anahuac was in front 1-0. Brayden Sutch then singled to score two more and the Panthers led 3-0.

Logan Trotter reached on an error by the East Chambers shortstop for a 4-0 advantage. Luke Hoagland singled to score Trotter and the Panthers had a 6-0 lead.

Anahuac put four more runs across in the third inning for a 10-0 lead. Blake Majors had an RBI single in the frame.

Josephson helped himself at the plate with two hits and an RBI.

The teams moved to Winnie on Friday night and the Panthers rode a Logan Trotter 13-strikeout performance to a 5-1 win. Trotter allowed only five hits in the complete game performance.

Hayden LeVeck struck out eight for the Buccaneers as he also went the distance.

After single runs in the second and third innings gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead, they added two more runs in the fourth. Sutch had an RBI groundout to make it 3-0 and then Eki Swonke scored on a passed ball and it was 4-0.

Anahuac scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to make it a 5-0 advantage.

East Chambers picked up a run in the bottom half of the sixth inning. Luke Hampton singled, and Sam Billeaudeau doubled to score Hampton, making it 5-1.

Trotter finished off the Buccaneers with a pop-up to first base for the final out of the game.

Edmonds led the Panthers with two hits and an RBI, while Billeaudeau finished with a pair of hits for East Chambers.
