AMDD talks soccer and beautification
ANAHUAC— With the pickleball courts now open, Anahuac Municipal Development District directors began discussing a potential soccer complex project.
AMDD held a regular meeting on Tuesday, March 11, furthering discussion on beautification and recreational projects for Anahuac.
The directors discussed a potential collaboration with the Chambers County Commissioners Court to build a soccer complex, including a bicycle and walking trail, after County Commissioner Pct. 1 Jimmy Gore approached AMDD with a vision.
There are not yet details on the potential complex as it is still in the beginning phases of planning.
The directors also discussed a potential sidewalk and street lighting project for Anahuac. They discussed focusing on both sidewalks on the sides of Miller Street to aid in safe travel for pedestrians and bicyclists. They plan to search for potential grants for the project.
Office Manager Annette Abernathy made plans to contact Chambers County Economic Development Director Samantha Humphrey and the Anahuac Area Chamber of Commerce to coordinate a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the pickleball courts in Anahuac.
The directors continued planning for the Day of Caring event, a community beautification project, which will likely take place in the spring. A large trash pickup day coinciding with the project was discussed.
More details on the event will be provided as they are finalized.
Due to County Judge Jimmy Sylvia and Commissioner Pct. 4 Ryan Dagley being unable to attend the recent court meeting, a planned presentation of pickleball paddles was postponed to a later date.
