The Liberty High School Jazz Band traveled to Temple, TX on April 1st and 2nd to participate in the 30th Annual Temple College Jazz Festival. On Friday evening, the band members took part in an All-Star Jam Session, learning and improvising on jazz standards alongside students and professional jazz musicians, including world-class recording artists Andre Hayward, Wycliffe Gordon, and Greg Gisbert.

Outgoing Tarkington ISD school Superintendent Dr. Marc Keith addresses the audience at Tarkington High School. The district held a retirement party last week for him. A large crowd of community members, friends, family, and fellow educators were on hand at the event. Keith ends a 40-year career in education after coming home to Tarkington in 2018. The Vindicator

The Dayton High School Marine Core JROTC has had an outstanding competition season that culminated in an opportunity to compete for a birth to the nation drill competition in Daytona Beach. The cadets performed extremely well bringing home some hardware but ultimately fell just short of an invitation to the national competition. Out of the 16 schools that qualified for the regional competition the Dayton MCJROTC squad finished fourth, just sixty-five points away from the invitation to Florida. This group of young men and women have done a great job of represent ing Dayton ISD, Dayton High School, and their hometown throughout this competition season.
