The Cleveland Lady Indians could not hold on to the lead late and fell at Caney Creek 6-5 on Tuesday night in district action. Cleveland scored four runs in their first at-bat in building a big lead early on. Caitlyn Meshell started the game off after being hit-by-a-pitch and then moved to second on a single by Krystal Warner. Katherine Paz then laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached on an error to load the bases. Kalah Fussell then had the big hit of the inning with a three-run double to clear the bases and the Lady Indians led 3-0. Valerie Brown then plated Fussell with a ground out and the score was 4-0. The Lady Panthers scored a run in the bottom half of the frame to cut the deficit to 4-1 after an inning. The score stayed the same until Cleveland made it 5-1 with a run in the top of the sixth inning as Ariana Rivera scored Valeria Brown on a grounder. Caney Creek then went to work in the bottom of the sixth as they scored three runs in the frame to get within 5-4 heading into the seventh. The Lady Panthers then finished the comeback in the seventh inning with a pair of runs to grab the win. Warner had two hits to lead the Lady Indians at the plate. Cleveland will host Montgomery on Friday to close out the season.

New Caney only had three hits, but it was 12 Indian walks that proved to be the difference. Cleveland picked up as many hits as the Eagles with three. Oved Espinoza had two of those and a double, while Jayce McNorton had the other Indians hit. Xavier Woods pitched into the fifth inning for the Indians and struck out four.

We have less than 50 days left in the 87th legislative session and the pace is picking up rapidly. Just this week, the Senate unanimously passed the Texas Consumer Privacy Act Phase 1, a bill I authored to ensure that the data the state has on private citizens is protected. Protecting consumer privacy is a priority for the Senate this session and I was proud to author this bill and see it pass unanimously through the Senate. Now, on to the House!
