DAYTON CREPE MYRTLES

The Dayton Enhancement Committee began this project in October 2021 and has 75 more trees to go!! The crepe myrtles are a beautiful way to enhance our town on the US 90 median west of Dayton. The first plating in 2021 was for 125 trees, so we are doing a “LAST CALL “so this project can be completed. The last planting will be sometime between November 2023 and January 2024. A $ 100.00 donation per crepe myrtle “in honor of “or “in memory of “is all that is required. Forms are available on The City of Dayton website. ANNUAL BUTTERFLY COUNT

Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting the Annual Butterfly Count for northern Liberty County on Saturday, Oct. 21. Areas to be counted include the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge and Tarkington Prairie. Their meeting location is the Shell Fuel Max Gas station at Hwy 105 and FM 2518 at 9 a.m. They should be fi nished by 3: 30 p. m. REVIVAL

Berean Tabernacle will host a Revival at 405 Hwy 146 Bypass, Liberty, on Oct. 22- 24. Guest speakers will be in attendance, and Pastor Dr. Hurley Clayton Jr. will be the host.

84TH CHURCH ANNIVERSARY

Lily of the Valley Baptist Church will have their 84th church anniversary on Oct.23 at 3 p.m., at 308 Baker Circle, Ames, Texas. MAMMOGRAM DAY

The Rose non-profit breast health provider is partnering with the Marshall Family Practice to reach uninsured women, ages 40 and older, through The Mobile Mammography Program with screening mammograms. This mammogram opportunity for no cost to those eligible will be held on Oct. 26 from 9 am to 3: 30 pm at 601 S. Winfree in Dayton. DVFD HAUNTED HOUSE

The Dayton Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 2 will host a Haunted House at 203 Cook St. in Dayton behind the Jack-In-the-Box. Tickets are $12 each, and the dates are Oct. 20-21 and Oct. 27-28.

TRUNK OR TREAT

Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland will host a Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct.28, from 4- 7 p. m. The church will also be showing children’s movies in the gym.

FBC DAYTON FALL FESTIVAL The First Baptist Church of Dayton is hosting its annual Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m. A fun time for the whole family with free food, candy, games, face painting, an inflatable slide, a jump house, crafts, a petting zoo, snow cones, and much more. Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 202 E Houston.

TRUNK OR TREAT

Trinity Baptist Church will host a Trunk or Treat on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 6- 8 p.m. There will be various activities and refreshments for guests to enjoy.

GCCC ANNUAL TREAT STREET The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Treat Street event on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cleveland Civic Center. There will be a Best Decorated Booths Contest. The event gives community youth a safe place to get free candy. Also, this event is an excellent opportunity for our local businesses and organizations to interact with the community and advertise your business/ organization. FALL FESTIVAL

Hardin Baptist Church will host a Fall Festival for kids K-6th grade on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. There will be door prizes, a costume party, hot dogs, candy, chips, and other refreshments. For questions, please call 936-298-2821

BOURBON, BEER & BITES

The Dayton Enhancement Committee is hosting a Bourbon, Beer, and Bites event on Saturday, Nov.4, from 6-9 p.m. at The Crossroads, 111 N Church Street, Dayton. Ticket prices for the tasting entry will be $40 and $20 for general admission. Ages twelve and under are free.

AUSTIN MEMORIAL LIBRARY POPUP MARKET The Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, Austin Memorial Library, and the city of Cleveland have partnered up to host a pop-up market for young market vendors on Nov. 7, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Austin Memorial Library. Kids 5-13 years old will be able to have a vendor. Vendors will need at least 20 products to sell, including homemade crafts & jewelry, beverages (hot chocolate, lemonade, etc.), flowers & plants, homegrown veggies & fruits, or table decor. FISH FRY FUNDRAISER

Mt Reah Church is hosting a fish fry fundraiser at 65 County Road 2149, Cleveland, on Dec. 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

CONVERSATIONS & BREAKFAST Pastor Ken Davis from Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton invites everyone to talk to him or pray with him on Friday mornings from 8:30 am to 12 pm at MacDonald’s. You bring the conversation, and he buys the breakfast. You are also more than welcome to send him a Facebook message to leave a prayer request for him.

FIRST SUNDAY JAM

The first Sunday of each month, Cleveland VFW is sponsoring “ The First Sunday” jam hosted by the Loose Change Band from 1–5 pm. Bring your axe and your talent. Musicians wanted. There will be food available.

SENIOR LUNCHEON

Every Tuesday-Friday at the Dayton Community Center, a free senior luncheon will be held at the Dayton Community Center 11 am – 12 pm. All are sponsored by Grace Initiative, Dayton’s Meals On Wheels. Call 936-258-6630 to sign up for a meal.

SENIOR MID-DAY MOVIE

The Dayton Senior Mid-day Movie event is every Thursday after lunch at noon in the senior center. The movies are provided by Jones Public Library and hosted by the Dayton Community Center.

YARN CLUB

Every Tuesday, 11: 30 am –1 pm, Yarn Club meets at the Dayton Community Center. There will be crocheting, quilting, knitting, cross stitch, embroidery, and just about anything you can think of with yarn! Call a Yarn Club member with questions at 281-385-5398.

INSIDE WALKING

Monday-Thursday, 8 am-4 pm, walk the inside air-conditioned hallway square/ track (463 ft/0.088 miles) at the Dayton Community Center, 801 S Cleveland St.

SIT & BE FIT

SENIOR BREAKFAST

On the third Monday of every month, a Senior Breakfast will be held at the Dayton Community Center at 9 am. Donations are welcomed. Thrif-tee Food Center will sponsor the breakfast.

SENIOR BINGO

SENIOR POTLUCK

DOMINOS

The City of Dayton will host Dominos 42 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am -12 pm at the Dayton Senior Center. If you are not into “42”, then bring some friends. There will be plenty of cards and dominos at the Senior Center. You can start a new group!

ALCOHOL CHEMICAL TREATMENT SERIES A.C.T. S. is now being offered in Liberty by a trained, program- certified instructor. These classes will satisfy court orders and/or personal growth desires. HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week, Tuesday- Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Friday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible- based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is at 9456 HWY 146 N in Hardin, Texas.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

The City of Liberty has Coffee with the Mayor on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 am in council chambers.
