Traffic stop leads to drug arrest for local woman
Lester was transported to the Cleveland Police Department Jail, where she was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance, which is a third degree felony due to the amount discovered. She was then taken to Liberty County Jail.
A traffic stop led to an arrest on Oct. 1, at approximately 7 p.m., in the 300 block of San Jacinto Avenue in Cleveland. Cleveland Police Department Officer Brown observed a red 2006 Ford F-150 truck with a defective brake light.
Brown pursued the vehicle in an attempt to make a traffic stop. Despite the siren and emergency lights being active, the truck continued for several more blocks before stopping.
Brown observed the driver moving around frequently as he was driving behind the vehicle, which led Brown to conclude that the driver may have been attempting to conceal something. The truck eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Belcher Street and Mason Avenue.
Upon making contact with the female driver, identified as Cleveland resident Amber Lynne Lester, aged 29, dispatch was notified of the driver's identity.
Dispatchers then notified Brown that Lester was wanted by the Cleveland Police Department on charges stemming from two outstanding warrants. Lester complied when asked to exit the vehicle and was placed into custody.
Cleveland Police Department Officer Scott arrived on scene to assist Brown and both officers then conducted an inventory of the vehicle. It was then that they discovered a clear plastic bag that contained a crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine. It was discovered hidden behind the driver's seat and was seized as evidence.
