BLOOD DRIVE

MD Anderson will host a blood drive next Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department at 1001 Bill Moreau Dr in Dayton.

TRINITY VALLEY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH ANNIVERSARY & HOMECOMING The Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating its 153rd Anniversary and homecoming on Sept. 23 and 24. On Saturday the 23rd, a musical will start at 6 p.m., led by Minister of Music Chester D.T. Baldwin. On Sunday the 24th, Speaker Pastor Greg Bellard and Olive Bethel will attend to celebrate the Anniversary and Homecoming at 2 p.m.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 27th Annual Cowboy Classic Golf Tournament will be hosted by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Houston Metro Go Texan Committee, and the Liberty County Subcommittee. This event will be on Sept. 23 at the Chambers County Golf Course, 1 Pinchback Dr, Anahuac TX 77514. Net proceeds benefit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. BENEFIT FOR COACH CLARK

A benefit will be held on Sept. 30, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. for Coach Robert Clark. Special guests Willie-D & The Hip Pockets will be performing at 6 p.m. BBQ sandwiches, or sausage on a stick, chips, and drinks are $15 and available at noon. This event will occur at the Harvest Event Center at 9775 N HWY 146 in Liberty. A live auction will take place at 4 p.m., and the raffle/silent auction winners will be announced at 8 p.m. PayPal and Zelle payments may be sent to rclarkbenefit@gmail. com. CLEVELAND FALL MARKET

The City of Cleveland will be hosting a fall market on Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Entry is free to the public, and there will be various vendors, food trucks, live music, and a kid’s zone. WILDLIFE REFUGE APPRECIATION DAY Join the Friends of the Trinity River Refuge (FOTTR) for their Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge Appreciation Day and “Walk for the Wild” on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Champion Lake, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Events will include Walk for the Wild, Paddle for the Wild, The Big Sit Bird Count, Tour of the Historic Casa de Los Patos Lodge, Interpretive Speakers, Photo Contest and Scavenger Hunt, and various educational exhibits and information booths. LIBERTY COUNTY PRAYER MARCH The Liberty County Prayer March is gearing up for its fourth annual gathering on Saturday, Oct. 7 at noon. The march will begin at the Vara Faye Daniel Pavillion outside of the Liberty City Hall. This year’s march will honor the youth of the county. OKTOBERFEST AND BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host an Oktoberfest and Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2041 Trinity, Liberty, TX. The Oktoberfest will start at 6:00 p.m., and the Blessing of the Animals will begin at 4:00 p.m. For the Blessing of the Animals, attendees are asked to bring a bag of cat or dog food, which will be delivered to an animal shelter. TVE WINE TASTING

The TVE Fair and Rodeo will hold its annual wine tasting on Friday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the TVE Fairgrounds, 321FM 563, Liberty. LIONS PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Join the Liberty Lions Club for an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, 133 East Walnut. Adult plates cost $10, Seniors cost is $8, and children 12 and under cost is $5. The price includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage and gravy, and your choice of beverage. MAMMOGRAM DAY

The Rose non-profit breast health provider is partnering with the Marshall Family Practice to reach uninsured women, ages 40 and older, through The Mobile Mammography Program with screening mammograms. This mammogram opportunity for no cost to those eligible will be held on October 26 from 9 am to 3:30 pm at 601 S. Winfree in Dayton. CONVERSATIONS & BREAKFAST Pastor Ken Davis from Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton invites everyone to talk to him or pray with him on Friday mornings from 8:30 am to 12 pm at MacDonald’s. You bring the conversation, and he buys the breakfast. You are also more than welcome to send him a Facebook message to leave a prayer request for him.

FIRST SUNDAY JAM

The first Sunday of each month, Cleveland VFW is sponsoring “The First Sunday” jam hosted by the Loose Change Band from 1–5 pm. Bring your axe and your talent. Musicians wanted. There will be food available.

SENIOR LUNCHEON

Every Tuesday-Friday at the Dayton Community Center, a free senior luncheon will be held at the Dayton Community Center 11 am – 12 pm. All are sponsored by Grace Initiative, Dayton’s Meals On Wheels. Call 936-258-6630 to sign up for a meal.

SENIOR MID-DAY MOVIE

The Dayton Senior Mid-day Movie event is every Thursday after lunch at noon in the senior center. The movies are provided by Jones Public Library and hosted by the Dayton Community Center.

YARN CLUB

Every Tuesday, 11:30 am –1 pm, Yarn Club meets at the Dayton Community Center. There will be crocheting, quilting, knitting, cross stitch, embroidery, and just about anything you can think of with yarn! Call a Yarn Club member with questions at 281-385-5398.

On the third Monday of every month, a Senior Breakfast will be held at the Dayton Community Center at 9 am. Donations are welcomed. Thrif-tee Food Center will sponsor the breakfast.

The City of Dayton will host Dominos 42 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am -12 pm at the Dayton Senior Center. If you are not into “42”, then bring some friends. There will be plenty of cards and dominos at the Senior Center. You can start a new group!

HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week, Tuesday- Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Friday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is at 9456 HWY 146 N in Hardin, Texas.
