Dayton Noon Lions hold annual pancake supper

Pancakes, sausage, toppings, butter and syrups for all, as well as orange juice, milk, water and coffee were enjoyed by many as the Dayton Noon Lions held their annual pancake supper this past Thursday night, April 20th.

Lions Richard Till and Larry Wilburn handled the cooking for the evening and drew rave reviews for some great tasting pancakes and sausage. Many diners were overheard throughout the evening praising their efforts.

Many of the Dayton Noon Lions were on hand wearing their distinctive yellow vests and serving diners with seconds, thirds and even fourths to those whose appetites were met with ample backup of the tasty meal.

The club also had Lions on hand to provide eye scans for children and adults under the competent leadership of Lion Brian Kelley, a Lake Jackson Lion who will be transferring into the Dayton Club soon.

About midway through the event, in front of a room full of diners, Lion Club President Mike George interrupted dinner to inform the crowd of what Lions are about and why they do what they do. He gave a brief history of how Lions Club International came about and explained the areas of need that Lions Clubs all over the world attempt to address with donations and by the fund raising they always seem to be doing.

Lion Kelley gave details about the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas, and how the camp serves all children with such challenges as diabetes, Down-syndrome, vision impairments, cancer and many others. Lion Club Vice-President Alisha Dale added to the presentation by mentioning how everything at the Texas Lions Camp is made available to campers and their families at absolutely no costs.

The event also featured a silent auction which featured artwork, yard implements, a plant, a cooker, propane gas tank including fill-up and other items.

Dayton Noon Lions would also like to thank First Baptist Church of Dayton who has offered their facility to the club ever since the first pancake supper many years ago.
