Big week coming for Cleveland ISD
A lot is happening around Cleveland ISD next week as they prepare for the start of the new school year.
First up, the district welcomes teachers and staff at the annual Convocation with what Superintendent Stephen McCanless promises to be a unique production by The Drum Café.
“Cleveland ISD Convocation this year will be like none other in the past. We have a global organization coming in to energize, excite, motivate, and inspire all CISD staff about how great it is to not only be in the education profession, but also to work in Cleveland ISD. Cleveland ISD was very fortunate to secure this team building presentation,” said McCanless.
They are one of the world’s top team-building companies, with an international following. They performed at the Bejing Olympics during the opening ceremony and other events like the FIFA World Cup and Miss World.
“Nothing like it anywhere around,” said McCanless.
That event kicks off the school year at Cleveland High School on Monday, Aug. 1, at 9 am.
The focus will then shift to the opening of four campuses within the district.
“Cleveland ISD is excited about the 2022-23 school year. We have three brand new campuses opening up, plus one repurposed campus that will be the new 9th Grade center. We have ribbon cuttings planned for all locations,” said McCanless.
The ceremonies kick off Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 9 am for the brand-new Santa Fe Elementary and Santa Fe Middle School campuses. The event will be at 7499 Road 3540, Cleveland, in the new Santa Fe subdivision.
The district is set to open two more campuses on Friday, Aug. 5, with the all-new Northside Elementary at 8:30 am. Northside is located at 1020 Northside Blvd, Cleveland.
Finally, the district will celebrate the opening of the new CISD 9th Grade Center, located at the former Northside campus at 1522 N. Blair St. That event will occur at 9:30 am following the Northside opening.
The new ninth-grade facility will house between 900-1,000 students when school begins in August. There will be an associate principal and multiple assistants on the campus, while Dr. Kristy Dietrich will remain over both campuses as Principal.
It should be an exciting time around Cleveland as they ramp up for the new year.
