On The Road Again
Dreams can come true when you play softball for the Lady Jacks from Stephen F. Austin State University. Just ask Sydnee Hebert, Mikaelah Burkland, or Kassidy Wilbur. These young ladies from Dayton, Liberty, and Bridge City programs are working towards a trip to the Softball World Series Tournament at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
These three super stars were in Beaumont recently for a three-game series against the Lamar Cardinal softball program and came away with 3 wins and a blistering 26-1 scoring weekend. Sydnee (Jr.) is the DH hitter, Mikaelah (Fr.) plays center field and Kassidy (Sr.) is a pitcher. The coaches are Nicole Dickson, Morgan Spearman and Emily Evans.
Back on the road, a highlight for Mikaelah was visiting her former Liberty Panther teammate Kaci West during a game against the Baylor Bears in Waco. Kaci pitches for Baylor. Both ladies were members of the 4A Liberty Panther Program when they won State in 2018 and 2021 coached by Karen Slack.
Keep your eyes on these Lady Jacks as they compete in the May 12-14 WAC Tournament in Huntsville (SHSU) with a trip to Oklahoma for the College World Series from June 2-9. Running the road from the SFA Campus to Oklahoma is about 375 miles and a six-hour journey. Start packing your bags for the May 12-14 WAC Tournament for another Road Trip! Go Jacks!
