Sopchak throws no-hitter against Trinity
Hayden Sopchak pitched a no-hitter and struck out nine, and the Hardin Hornets scored early and often to blow past the Trinity Tigers 17-0 in five at home on Tuesday.
Sopchak allowed just a walk to the Tigers in a masterful performance on the mound.
Hardin put up seven runs in their first at-bat.
Rylee Board and Jaden Parrish each reached on errors, and Board would score on the error that allowed Parrish to reach, and it was 1-0.
A single by Carson Williams would follow that.
Parrish and Williams each scored on wild pitches, and the score was 3-0.
Cody Turner and Grayson Creel each walked and then an RBI single by Ryan Harris made it 5-0.
Blain Thornton then had an RBI double, and an RBI single by Board would follow that, and the advantage was 7-0.
The Hornets added three more in the second inning, with the big hit of the frame coming on a two-run single by Creel, and the lead was 10-0.
Hardin scored three more runs in the third inning.
Caden Elmore then decided to put a dent in the scoreboard with a three-run homer, and the Hornets lead was 13-0.
Hardin scored four more in the fourth, and then Sopchak struck out the side in the fifth to put an end to the game.
Williams Harris each had two hits apiece at the plate.
The Hornets will host Bob Hope on Friday night.
