(1) The Angelina County Texas History Conference will take place a week from Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Meeting Room of the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce on 1615 South Chestnut in Lufkin Texas. Sponsored by the Angelina County Genealogical Society, the cost for the whole day of the conference or any session of it is only $10. The conference will adjourn at 11:50 a.m. to 1 p.m. for everyone attending to dine at Chili’s at their own expense. Seating is limited, so don’t wait to reserve your seat. Mail a check or money order made payable to the Angelina County Genealogical Society (ACGS) to: Betty Dufner, Treasurer c/o Angelina County Genealogical Society P. O. Box 150631 Lufkin Texas 75915-0631. You can take a chance on getting a seat that morning by simply paying at the door.

(2) The Deep East Texas Archeological Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Iris and Anne Howard Civic Center on 213 East Court Street in Newton, Texas. The speaker: 13 year old Israel Jones The topic: My Insulator Collection At 6:30 p.m. Sandra Litton will have “the victuals” for everyone to eat. (3) Chris Edwards, editor of the Tyler County Booster is the featured speaker for the April 18, 2022 meeting of the Angelina County Genealogical Society. His topic: “An Author’s Genealogical Moment,” a celebration of the recent release of his first full-length book Nobody Comes to Visit This Place Anymore. ACGS will meet at 5 p.m. that day in the Railroad Depot Meeting Room of Kurth Memorial Library on 706 South Raguet Street in Lufkin.
