The weather this past Saturday morning was gorgeous. It was a great time to get outside and enjoy the day, which is just what the Liberty County Republican Party members did as they awaited candidates to file for the 2022 Primary Election. Party Chairwoman Emily Cook and former Chairman Ryan Daniel set up shop in front of Cook’s home to greet aspiring candidates.

Several incumbents have once again put their name on the ballot with Liberty County Judge Jay Knight, County Treasurer Kim Harris, Pct. 2 County Commissioner Greg Arthur, Pct. 1 JP Stephen Hebert, Pct. 3 JP Cody Parrish, Pct. 4 JP Larry Wilburn, Pct. 5 JP Wade Brown and Pct. 6 JP Ralph Fuller all looking for another term in office.

Pct. 4 County Commissioner Leon Wilson was also on hand to sign-up for his third term in that office, but unlike the other candidates, he drew a competitor with former County Judge Craig McNair filing for that seat as well.

Currently every office in Liberty County, but one is held by the Republican Party. Locally the offices of County Judge, Treasurer, County and District Clerk, Surveyor, all six Justice of the Peace offices, County Commissioner 2 and 4 are all on the ballot this year, as well as County Court-at-Law No. 1, 75th District Judge and 253rd District Judge.

Candidates have until Monday, Dec. 13 at 6 pm to file their paperwork for the primary election on Tuesday, Mar. 1, 2022. Anyone interested in filing, please contact chairwoman Emily Cook to set an appointment between now and Dec. 13 by texting or calling 281-622-7268 or email lcrptx@gmail.com.
