It was a game too far, so to speak. The 8 - 2 Lovelady Lions totally dominated the 5 - 4 Hull-Daisetta Bobcats in Bi-District competition Friday night. The game was played in Woodville’s Eagle Stadium. The Lions struck on their first possession of the game on a 34-yard run, 8 - 0. The ‘Cats attempted an onside kick that the Lions covered at their 45. Two plays later, it was 30 - 6. The Bobcats would not simply go away, though. On their next possession, QB Levi Wallace handed off to Tyler Thibideaux, who was in motion. Thibideaux looked to get outside before pulling up and tossing the ball 40 yards downfield to Victorian for HD’s 2nd TD of the night. The catch-and-run play covered 81 yards. It was 30 - 12.
Lovelady answered again, capping a 48-yard drive in just over 2 minutes with a 4-yard run, making it 38 - 12. HD lost possession on a fumble, and Lovelady scrimmaged at the HD 20. They scored from 4 yards, and it was 44 - 12 with 3 minutes left in the half. After another Drake punt, the Lions scored their last points of the night on a 59-yard pass completion.
The second half was quick as the clock ran almost continuously. On their last possession of the game and as time ran out, HD standout Victorian would not be denied; he managed to get outside and cover the final 8 yards for his 3rd TD of the night. The final score was 52 - 18.
