John unexpectedly passed from this life at home and went on to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 18. Mr. Myers was born on June 21, 1949 in Dayton to John M. Myers Sr. and Nora Lea Myers.
John was born and raised in the Votaw and Saratoga area. He has been a resident of Hardin for over thirty years. John was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country bravely and received a bronze star. He was a patriot through and through. He retired after many years from Cameron Iron Works. In retirement he loved to do anything outside. John was always tending to his garden, his roses, or his yard. Mr. Myers always made sure the birds and squirrels were well cared for. John was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Myers loved to go fishing with friends and family whenever he was able. He was always up for pitching horseshoes or washers and competed in many tournaments. Mr. Myers was a kind man, who will always be known as just a good ol’ guy. He never judged folks on other people’s word, he made his own opinion of you and stuck to it. He was a caring man and would give the shirt off his back if need be. John always worked hard no matter if in the oilfield or at home with his chores, he always stayed busy. Mr. Myers had a special place in his heart for his four legged buddies, Sam who has past and Denver who is his current yorkie.
John was a true family man at heart. His beloved wife, Jeanette, and he were married for over thirty years. They were extremely close and had a very special bond. He was the rock and foundation for his family and was always there when anyone needed anything. It was without doubt that his family was his greatest treasure in life. John will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
