Chachere Veterinary Clinic Brings the Rotary Club Program

President Tami Pierce called the meeting to order. Mrs. Leslie Herndon said the prayer and Mrs. Margie Poole led the club in the American Pledge and Texas Pledge. After welcoming several visitors, Mrs. Pierce turned the program over to Rotarian, Dr. Luke Chachere who brought six of his twenty-four staff members to assist with today’s program. He stated, “The Chachere Vet Clinic has grown tremendously over the past 37 years. So much so, that in 2018, we began a remodel and expansion to turn our 3,000 square foot, 3 exam room facility into a 10,000 square foot, 11 exam room facility.” The 10,000 square foot facilities features the latest equipment for meeting various needs of large and small animals. They offer general health care, like vaccinations and parasite control, plus diagnostic testing and surgery, laser therapy, dental checkups. Dr. Chachere and some of his staff gave their backgrounds and discussed their part/responsibility on the CVC team.
Dr. Chachere was born and raised in Dayton. He graduated from Dayton High School and Texas A&M before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at Texas A&M University. When he graduated, he returned home to serve his community as a veterinarian, opening his clinic in 1984. His wife, Julie, is also a lifelong Dayton resident and teaches school in Dayton I.S.D. Dr. Luke Chachere is an avid supporter of Dayton youth, school functions, and is very active in the community and his church.
Dr. Lukas Chachere was born and raised in Dayton, TX. Growing up, he was very active in the Dayton FFA and exhibited cattle across Texas and the USA. He graduated from Dayton High School in 2006. He received his Bachelor of Animal Science from Texas A&M University in 2010 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in May 2014. Dr. Lukas returned home in May 2014 and began practice the following week. He is the eldest of Dr. Luke’s children. He enjoys working on all types of animals as well as with junior livestock exhibitors and staying involved in the community.
Dr. Anthony Labbe was raised in Manvel, TX and was an active FFA member along with being very involved in rodeo. Dr. Labbe trained rodeo horses as well as participated in calf roping and bull riding. He attended Sam Houston State University then transferred to Texas A&M University for his undergraduate degree and earned a Bachelor of Science in 2016. He then earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M in May 2021. Dr. Labbe joined the Dayton Vet Clinic shortly after graduating in June 2021.
Another Chachere that joined the clinic is Rebecca Chachere Garvin. She was born and raised in Dayton, TX. She is Dr. Luke’s youngest daughter. She grew up playing and working at the clinic. She is now back full time as practice manager. Rebecca has worked the past four years in the medical field as a radiologic technologist. She decided to move back to her hometown of Dayton with her husband, Tyler, and re-join the family practice.
Jorge Cabrera-Chavez is the CVC large animal technician. He joined their team earlier this year. He is from Michoacan, Mexico and studied veterinary medicine at the University of Guadalajara. He earned his veterinary license in Mexico and is now working on earning his United States and Texas veterinary license.
CVC staffer, Candice Pifer, L.V. T. was raised in Dayton. Candice graduated from the Vet Tech Institute of Houston, and joined the CVC crew as a licensed veterinary technician in 2017. She is especially passionate about caring for our critical and hospitalized patients, and helping acclimate nervous pets during vet visits.
Kayla Dedear and Chelsie Molina are two of the five who work the front office area. These ladies schedule appointments and take care of all clients’ needs. During the presentation, Dr. Chachere revealed that they answer over 1,000 phone calls a week.
Dr. Luke Chachere wrapped up the informative presentation with a question and answer time. To conclude the meeting, President Tami Pierce led the club in the 4-Way Test.
