LIBERTY ROTARY CLUB

The Liberty Rotarians are carefully adhering to guidelines from officials and encouraging everyone to shop local as often as possible. Rotarians are collaborating with other service organizations.

FASOLT

The Fine Arts Society of Liberty Texas fosters the arts and provides scholarships to students majoring in Fine Arts in college. Each year, the Society grants scholarships to such students and supplies fees for high school and jr high students attending camp. The contact person for scholarships is Mrs. Christie Bean of Liberty High School. The next meeting of the board, as well as anyone who wishes to help with the Fall 2021 Expo and/or become a member of FASOLT, will be on Monday, June 28. The Fall 2021 Expo is scheduled for early October and will feature local artists and youth in photography, visual arts, dance, song, and culinary arts. FASOLT is asking for school and community involvement. The meeting on June 28 will take place at LHS at 7 pm. FASOLT will meet each month on the fourth Monday of the month until September, and the Fall Expo will be the first weekend in October.

LIBERTY LIONS CLUB

LIBERTY LIONS KNOCK IT OUT OF THE BALLPARK GRANTING $25,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS!!!!! The recipients from Liberty High School receiving $2,500 each are Ethan Smart, Emily Pierce, Megan Farabee, Citlali Garcia, Marko Garcia-Lopez, Maritza Miranda, Julia Adams, Emily Thibodeaux, Kyla Watkins, and Aaliyah Dugat. Liberty Lions took a work crew including PDG/Past President Chris Moorman, Immediate Past President David Leonard, and Lion Martin Trahan to make repairs at Texas Lions Camp. Texas Lions Camp is 515 acres which service-disabled and diabetic children during the Summer. Lions of Texas sponsor them.

While Liberty Lions will physically meet at the City Hall next Monday, June 21, this will also be the time the District Governor meets with the club. Liberty Lions is a closely-knit group that is a model of service for other Lions Clubs. In addition to servicing and supplying needs for the local community, Liberty Lions are always helping with various District, State, and International Lions projects and charities, including the Texas Lions Camp. Liberty Lions distribute American and Texas flags.

DAYTON NOON LIONS CLUB

The Dayton Noon Lions were out in full effect for the 2021 Taste of Dayton. The Dayton Noon Lions encourage anyone interested in joining their organization to attend their luncheons at Noon on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Texas Kountry Kitchen, located at 313 N. Main.

HARDIN LIONS CLUB

Hardin Lions are preparing for an Anniversary Celebration. This event will also be a fundraiser for scholarships and charities. The event will take place this Fall. TEXAS LIONS CLUB 2-S2

District 2-S2 is looking for hard-working members who are interested in joining KOPE 2-S2 Cyber Lions Club. KOPE is community-facing, and we want to touch the world. MULTIPLE DISTRICT 2 Council of Governors

Friday, June 11, a group of over 60 Lions, physicians, and volunteers met in Brownsville for a Medical Mission. The idea was mentioned ten years ago by one of the doctors who frequently go on missions abroad. Texas Lions MD2 Governors Dr. Javier Morales of Odessa orchestrated the medical aspects. District Governor Connie Swartz of Corpus Christi planned the events. District Governor Bonita Davis of Hardin helped secure the glasses from Conroe Noon Recycling, and District Governor Christina Schoonover brought more volunteers. This was a group effort with many hands, feet, and hearts.

CLEVELAND LIONS CLUB

Cleveland Lions met at La Costa Seafood at their usual noon meeting time for a special occasion. Raylene Atkinson was installed as the second female President. Atkinson was a Lioness before Lions Clubs International allowed women to become Lions. Now she energetically takes the helm of Cleveland Lions Club. In her acceptance speech, she said, “Thank you, Lion District Governor Bonita Davis, Immediate Past President Thomas Higgins. I’m sure that sounds good to you! I am both honored and humbled to accept this leadership position, and I thank you for what support you have offered me during my 3.5 years membership with the Cleveland Lions Club. When I joined Lions only 3.5 years ago, I never intended holding this position. But, I am really looking forward to this coming year. I have two goals that I want to achieve over the next 12 months. The first one is to increase our membership by 12 members. That is only one member per month! I am already working on four so that only leaves eight more! My second goal is to let the community know that we have an active Lions Club and what we do. Thank you, Lion Bonita, for reminding us of why we are Lions and what Lionism is. I have had several people ask me what Lions are and what we do, as well as why I am a Lion. We need to define our WHY as a club and continue to make a difference in our community. If we work on this second goal, it will be easy to achieve the first goal! Thank you, Lion Thomas, for leading us over the past two years, and thanks to each of you for putting your trust in me to lead our club through this next year as we serve together.” President-Elect Raylene Atkinson

HARDIN HELPING HANDS

Hardin Helping Hands is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Hardin Helping Hands sponsors several community-based projects, including food drives and the Students First Program, which provides new clothing and other essential needs to students in Hardin ISD several times throughout the year.
