Immediate Past President David Leonard was honored at the Past District Governors Banquet for outstanding community service. Present for the occasion were members of Lion David’s family including his wife Brenda of 39 years. Lion James Kevin Leonard was there with his usual smile and ready hug. It was a festive time and Past DIstrict Governor Chris Moorman and his wife DeDe were also seated at the table. PDG Chris Moorman read the introduction before IPP David Leonard received his honor.
Each year, the Past District Governors ask clubs to submit names for this award. The Lions submitted for the PDG Distinguished Service Award must have served as President of their club, they must have served in District 2-S2 for no less than 7 years. Their service must be considered above and beyond that of a traditional Lion. IPP David Leonard has been a mover and shaker in Liberty County and more for decades.
While they cannot physically meet at the City Hall, they are a closely knit group who is a model of service for other Lions Clubs. In addition to servicing and supplying needs for the local community, Liberty Lions are always helping with various District, State and International Lions projects and charities including the Texas Lions Camp (For disabled and diabetic children). Liberty Lions distribute American and Texas flags.
