SpiritHorse Drill Team ready to ride

The SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center now has a Drill Team available for performances. They have been practicing twice weekly for the past year. The team wishes to share their dedication and passion with the community through their performance. The drill team has performed three times for Mutt Neuman’s Sunday Buckle Series.

Riding lead on the paint horses are Brandy on Chex and Mady on Brandi. Behind them are Brooklyn on the buckskin, Pax, and Aubree on her black horse, Bell. Next, on the black paint horse, Kid, is Moriah and Sophia on the palomino, Joker. Riding drag are Justin on Justice and Katy on Lacoda.

Outstanding parents supporting the drill team are Jimmy and Jackie, Brandy, Diane and Patrick, and Yaya Rosana.

SpiritHorse Liberty Therapeutic Riding Center is located 7.2 miles south of the TVE arena on FM 563. It is a nonprofit organization operated by Executive Director Donna Wiebelhaus. Volunteers that help with this mission are Michea, Marty, Wayne, Lillian, Debbie, Brandy, Justin and Katy.

Incorporated in 2010, SpiritHorse Liberty Therapeutic Riding Center provides research based private lessons to both special needs and typical riders. These lessons include horse management, grooming, tacking up, taking care of their equipment, and leading the horse according to each riders’ ability.

Through horse therapy, each rider’s individual needs, such as speech, balance, sensory perception, behavior, emotional, physical or cognitive processing, are addressed. Every rider is given the opportunity to grow.

Therapeutic riding for special needs children and adults is provided free of charge. Typical riders make a donation for their lessons. These donations are used to help care for the horses: feed, hay, vaccinations, veterinary care, supplements, farrier services, saddle pads, harnesses, bridles, saddles, etc. If you would like more information to support or get involved with SpiritHorse Liberty, talk with Donna Wiebelhaus at 936-641-0165.
