Hardin Post Office renamed for Lucas Lowe
A dedication ceremony was held this morning renaming the post office in Hardin as the Lucas Lowe Memorial Post Office, in honor of late Chief Warrant Officer II Lucas Maurice Lowe, who died in a helicopter crash during a National Guard training flight over Galveston Bay Dec. 28, 2016.
After a welcome by Post Master Anthony Jones, addresses, remarks and presentations were made by Congressman Brian Babin, Major General Tracy R. Norris, State Representative Earnest Bailes, County Judge Jay Knight, and Hardin Mayor Harry Johnson, and USPS Houston District Manager Chenise R. LeDoux.
The Eastgate Brass provided the music. Texas Army National Guard 72nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team presented the Colors, and the event was kicked off with flyover by the Texas Army National Guard 1-149th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion.
Lowe was a Hardin native. He joined the Army in 2004, served for 11 months in Afghanistan and 14 months in Iraq.
