Mount Pleasant puts an end to Lady Broncos season
RUSK — The Dayton Lady Broncos saw their season end on Friday night after losing game two of their bi-district series with Mount Pleasant 10-0.
The Lady Tigers scored a run in the first inning and then added four more in the fifth to lead 5-0.
Mount Pleasant then put the game away with five runs in the seventh inning.
Jess Woods and Madi Alvarado combined for four strikeouts for Dayton on the mound. On Thursday night, in game one, the Lady Broncos lost a heartbreaker to the Lady Tigers 6-5 in eight innings.
Dayton took a 2-1 lead in the second inning as Ava Horrell doubled home Anevay Cantu.
Mount Pleasant then tied the score in the fifth inning with a run.
The Lady Broncos then put up three runs in the top of the seventh inning as Ariana Zuniga scored Mika Anthony- Conner on a sacrifice fly and Dayton led 3-2. Itzel Gonzalez followed with a double to left field to plate Horrell and Bella Barziza and the advantage was 5-2.
Mount Pleasant then answered with three runs in the bottom half of the frame to tie the score at 5-apiece, sending the game into extra innings.
The Lady Tigers won it with a two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Alvarado finished with three strikeouts in pitching a complete game on the mound. The junior also led the Lady Broncos at the plate with two hits on the night
