Steele vying for District 18 as Libertarian
Shanna Steele, the 2022 Libertarian Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, has filed for Texas House of Representatives District 18.
She intends to “Steele your vote, not your property.”
Steele plans to flip House District 18 gold by reducing voter suppression throughout the district. House District 18 includes San Jacinto County, Hardin County, Liberty County, and a portion of Montgomery County. Steele, age 39, has an associate degree from Houston Community College. She is currently working on her bachelor’s degree at the University of Houston Downtown. Spanish is her second language and Chinese will be her third. It is important to speak Spanish as a candidate in District 18 with the influx of Spanish-speaking population located in the area known as Colony Ridge.
Steele believes the issues with immigration are due to the process.
Steele states, “Anyone would become impatient when the waiting period is over 20 years to be admitted to a place people only dream of. That dream, the American dream, is alive but being threatened in places like Colony Ridge.”
She also states the threat is coming from legislation that targets Colony Ridge because of growth in the Hispanic community and one of the reasons she is running for office.
