Operation Blue Remembrance to honor late lawmen
DAYTON – Operation Blue Remembrance is set to host a very special ceremony, honoring two historically significant local law enforcement officers and remembering their service.
Louis “Frenchy” Cashat and Hurley Provost are being honored on Friday, Oct.27, with a gravestone dedication at the Dayton Police Department at 9 a.m.
Cashat was Dayton’s night watchman when he was tragically killed on June 15, 1950, while on duty. He is the only officer to be killed in Dayton’s history.
Provost, Dayton’s first black law enforcement officer, served the community proudly for 40 years and passed away in 2022.
The community is encouraged to attend to honor Cashat and Provost.
