THOUGHTFUL THINGS
The Power of the Resurrection
Easter is the cornerstone of the Christian faith, a celebration not only of the resurrection of Jesus Christ but of the hope and victory it brings to all who believe. The resurrection is more than an event in history—it is the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan and a promise of eternal life for those who follow Him.
The Bible declares the power and significance of the resurrection in no uncertain terms. The Apostle Paul writes, “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain” ( 1 Corinthians 15: 14, KJV). The resurrection is not merely symbolic— it is the evidence of our salvation and the power that defeats death, hell, and the grave.
On Easter morning, the stone was rolled away, and the tomb was found empty. As the angel told the women at the sepulchre, “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay” (Matthew 28:6, KJV). These words continue to echo through generations, bringing hope to the hopeless and light to the darkest places.
The resurrection of Jesus is also deeply personal. It shows us that God’s love is not passive—it is powerful, victorious, and eternal. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5: 8, KJV). The cross was the payment, but the empty tomb is the receipt— proof that the debt was paid in full.
Easter is a reminder that no matter how broken our world may seem, Jesus has overcome it. “ These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, KJV). His resurrection assures us that trials are temporary, but His promises are eternal.
As believers, Easter calls us to live in the light of that resurrection power. “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings” ( Philippians 3: 10, KJV). We are called to walk in newness of life, free from the bondage of sin and full of the hope of glory. This Easter, may we not only remember an empty tomb, but celebrate a risen Savior. He lives, and because He lives, we can face tomorrow with courage, joy, and unshakable faith. “ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3, KJV).
