Summer is here and it is very hot! But even in the heat there is nothing more satisfying than. A cold glass of water with a lemon in it! It is so refreshing. The lemon is used for many things and even though it is very tart is can make th sweetest lemon pie! I love lemon pie it is my favorite. But even in the spiritual aspect lemons have a great significance.

The lemon tree is largely considered as a symbol of hope by the early Christians. The lemon tree gave them hope for the future and other things that lie ahead of them in life. They new that when life was hard and it felt like everything was sour and tart like a lemon, they knew that the lemon represented hope!

Isn’t is just like God to use something sour and make it sweet for our good? It adds meaning to the saying: “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. The Bible tell us in Romans 8;28 “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Lemons reveal awesome characteristics of our creative God. God uses trials and struggles in our life to grow us and squeeze lemonade from the lemons of life to help us grow into the people that He desires us to be. Many scriptures in the Bible give us hope when life hands us sour situations.

Psalm 34:8 How sweet are thy words unto my taste!

Psalm 119:103 O taste and see that the Lord is good:

We have to be diligent in what we think, what we do, and what we say in order to bear that beautiful sweet Fruit of the Spirit. When it comes down to it, the Christian life is all about living in the Spirit.
