Walking in Honesty and Integrity

Honesty and integrity are foundational to a life that honors God. As followers of Christ, we are called to walk in truth, for God Himself is truth (John 14:6). In a world where dishonesty is often excused or justified, we must stand firm in our commitment to righteousness, knowing that the Lord delights in truth and despises deceit.

Proverbs 12: 22 ( KJV) tells us, “ Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.” This verse makes it clear that dishonesty is not just a minor fault— it is an abomination before God. He values those who walk in truth and hold fast to integrity, even when it is difficult.

Integrity is not just about telling the truth in speech but also about living truthfully in our actions. Psalm 15: 1- 2 ( KJV) asks, “Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.” If we desire close fellowship with God, we must be people of truth in every aspect of our lives.

The enemy, Satan, is called the “father of lies” (John 8:44), and when we choose deceit, we align ourselves with his ways rather than God’s. But Christ calls us to a higher standard—to be light in a dark world, reflecting His righteousness. Colossians 3: 9-10 ( KJV) commands us, “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.” When we are born again, we are transformed, leaving behind the ways of deceit and embracing a life of honesty.

Integrity means being the same person in private as we are in public. It means keeping our promises, fulfilling our commitments, and doing what is right even when no one is watching. Proverbs 11: 3 ( KJV) declares, “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.” When we walk in integrity, God directs our steps, and we are not led astray. In a world full of deception, our honesty can be a testimony of God’s work in our lives. Matthew 5: 16 ( KJV) reminds us, “ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Our words and actions should reflect the truth of God’s Word, bringing glory to Him and drawing others to Christ.

May we strive daily to be people of honesty and integrity, knowing that when we walk in truth, we walk in the light of God’s favor.
